Inside Outside Fitness is not your typical gym - we're better! Here's how:

A Great Array of Classes. Our class schedule is designed to bring you overall fitness through a wide variety of classes that focus on cardio conditioning, strength training, flexibility and core & balance work. We've got circuit, cycling, zumba, sculpting, step, yoga, pilates, conditioning and more, and our classes are challenging & fun.

Terrific Instructors & Trainers. We've got Jonathan at circuit, Lisa at step, Heather with conditioning, Deborah at yoga, Angelique's Zumba, and that's just the start of our instructor line-up. Most of our instructors are also personal trainers, including Mark Duval, one of the Bay Area's top ten trainers. If these guys won't motivate you, nothing will.

All the Equipment You Need. Our weight room was recently completely refurbished with brand new, state-of-the-art equipment, including the Humansport line of functional training equipment read more . We also have all sorts of cardio equipment, like elliptical machines, treadmills, steppers, exercise bikes, spinning bikes and a rowing machine. Our movement room has steps, slides, tubes, bands, body bars, medicine balls, kettleballs, and all sorts of other gadgets to enhance your routine.

Pay-As-You-Go Membership. Our flexible memberships mean you can take one session, get a ten-session pass, or save money with an unlimited pass. There are no hidden enrollment fees, and we do not take ongoing payments from your bank account. We are fitness people, not sales people, so we hope you try us, like us, come back and stay fit. We do not want you to buy a membership you'll never use.

An Inviting Space. Our exercise studio is not a windowless box. This unique facility has natural light & fresh air, windows with hill views, and even a deck. Just the right amount of color is mixed with rotating displays of artwork. Our weight equipment is ergonomically positioned and our movement room's springy wood floor reduces impact - and looks great, too!

Convenient Location & Parking. Inside Outside Fitness is convenient to the neighborhoods of Piedmont, Rockridge, Temescal, Lakeshore & Montclair. There's lots of free on-street parking on our end of Piedmont Ave, so you can usually find a spot near our front door.

Independent, Locally-Owned, Community Gym. Inside Outside Fitness is not a fitness chain. Beginning with some of the Bay Area's first aerobics classes, then pioneering circuit training, this gym has been part of the Piedmont & North Oakland community since 1982. Current owner Lisa Gartland, an Oakland resident, is the fifth owner. She's committed to renovating & reinvigorating this neighborhood tradition.
